Collegiate Chapter Notes - June 2022

Student Officer Lapel Pins

We recently announced the addition of the student officer lapel pin to our vendor chapter supply store. Chapters can find this by logging into the CMS > Order Supplies. The student officer pins are not meant to replace the standard membership lapel pin that comes with a ceremony order for chapters who opt into receiving them and for students who accept within our vendor’s set processing schedule. The purpose of the student officer pin is to allow chapters the ability to have a tangible item to present to members who hold a student officer leadership role for your chapter. The pins are $6.99 each plus shipping. The student officer lapel pin is not required and is an optional item for chapters to purchase. In addition, we offer a student officer badge as another way to recognize these students that have taken on this leadership role. The student officer badge is free of cost and located on the BGS website.

Student Officers are a great resource to help you promote BGS both on campus and virtually. To help our office keep records up to date so we can share any helpful resources with your student officers, please send your 2021-2022 officer names and emails to ajones@betagammasigma.org.

Bronze Keys

Chapters may order a bronze key statue to place on campus to promote their BGS chapter. The key is an outstanding symbol of scholastic achievement and signals the excellence of your business program.

The cost of the key is $9,000. See examples of the key here. Each school designs its own base, some include a plaque with an inscription. Please note: the above price does not include the base the key sits in. The vendor who makes the key also does crating for an additional $500, although you can choose to have it crated by someone of your choice. It appears from other chapters’ experience that the vendor crating option is more convenient. Each school would also be responsible for shipping, based upon location. The estimated time frame for completion is approximately 5 months.

New staff and contact changes

The Beta Gamma Sigma Membership Team is growing! We are excited to officially introduce our newest team members, Andrea Jones and Meredith Malone. Andrea has joined BGS as a Manager, Collegiate Chapter Operations, and Meredith has taken on the role of Manager, Programs and Alumni Engagement.

With the addition of Andrea to the collegiate chapter team, chapters will now have either Cherie Campbell or Andrea Jones as their official chapter manager and main point of contact at BGS. The BGS chapter team will be taking our summer months to officially transition roles internally, though this will not impact any level of support to our chapters or members. Chapters can expect to hear directly from their chapter manager in the coming months. Should you have any questions or need assistance, you can always reach any member of our team directly or through chapters@betagammasigma.org, 314.925.1784.

Andrea is a native of Southwest Georgia and later moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she completed her B.S. in Sports Management at Fontbonne University. She went on to earn her M.S. in Recreation and Sports Management from Indiana State University while working as a Graduate Assistant for the Women's Basketball team. Post college, she worked in many roles as a member of the financial aid office at a local St. Louis area university for over 8 years. In her time off, Andrea enjoys spending time with family and friends, binge watching a good show, and snuggling her sweet pup, Phoebe!

Meredith grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and attended college at the University of Iowa where she received a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication. She has spent the past 15 years in Milwaukee, WI working in professional sports, while also completing a Masters in Business Administration from Mount Mary University. Her love for connecting with people, along with her non-profit and events experience, brought her to BGS in May 2022. When she’s not working, Meredith loves reading, volunteering, and spending time with friends.

Annual Chapter Survey

Don’t forget to complete the Beta Gamma Sigma 2021-2022 annual chapter survey. The original email, and link, was sent on April 6, 2022. The survey is an opportunity for chapters to share their accomplishments from the current academic year, July 1, 2021-June 30, 2022.

The survey was sent to one chapter contact and is sent through SurveyMonkey. The subject of the email was Beta Gamma Sigma 2021-2022 Collegiate Chapter Annual Survey, and the sender would appear as chapters@betagammasigma.org via SurveyMonkey member@surveymonkeyuser.com.

Chapters have until July 6, 2022, to complete and submit a response. A survey response is required to be eligible for an honor roll tier. More information on the Honor Roll Program and the Survey, including a sample copy of the survey for review, can be found here.

Chapter Honorees

CHAPTER HONOREE SUBMISSIONS:
The intent of the Chapter Honoree program is that it is designed to allow chapters to honor people other than students with BGS membership who would not otherwise qualify for membership. If your proposed Honoree is already a BGS member, please contact bgshonors@betagammasigma.org for alternative suggestions for honoring them.

BGS does not provide certificates for these honorees other than those provided through Award Concepts. The charge for a Chapter Honoree package is $250, including a 4-signature certificate that can be given to the honoree, in addition to the 2-signature framed certificate.

The Chapter Honoree packages take 4 TO 6 WEEKS from the later of the date the order is submitted to BGS or Award Concepts and paid in full. Please submit your orders so that they can arrive and be checked for any inaccuracies or shipping damage well before the date you intend to present the award to your honoree.

You need to place and pay for the order for the certificate and frame through the Award Concepts website, before the order begins processing, in addition to completing the form on our website. If you cannot pay with a credit card, please contact Award Concepts to provide a proforma invoice for payment by emailing bgs@awardconcepts.net or by phone at 800.659.7801.
