FAQs for Registered Participants

Q: What day does the event begin and end? 
A: This in-person event will take place on February 9th and 10th, 2024. The current times listed are tentative. The event will end no later than 4 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2024. All start and end times for each day are local (ET).

On Friday, February 9th, programming is tentatively scheduled to begin at 12:00 pm with registration opening at 11 am. Programming on Friday will end at roughly 6:30 pm. Participants are recommended to eat lunch prior to arriving on the first day of the event. 

On Saturday, February 10th, programming is tentatively scheduled to begin at 8:30 am with doors opening at 8 am. Programming on Saturday will end no later than 4 pm. There will be a lunch break on Saturday with programming resuming afterwards until no later than 4pm.

The official schedule of events will be shared with registered participants prior to the event. 

Q: Where is the event being held? 
A: Thanks to their generosity, we are happy to share the event will be held at the
Howard University School of Business

Q: What is the event schedule? 
A: The full schedule for this event can be found on the
BGS Event Page once it is finalized. The schedule includes speakers, panelists, an interactive workshop, a leadership activity, and a BGS Gives Back activity.

Q: Is this an in-person event or virtual?
A: This event takes place live and in-person only at the Howard University School of Business.

Q: Where can I register for the event?

A: Please follow the registration link on the BGS Event Page which will take you to the registration page on Eventbrite. Please note that this event is limited to 100 participants, so we encourage interested members to register sooner rather than later to guarantee a spot to attend this year’s event.

Q: What are the hotel recommendations? 
A: BGS will provide hotel recommendations near the event site, however members can choose to pick any hotel of their choosing.

Q: Are hotel accommodations included in the event fee? 
A: Hotel accommodation is not included in the event fee. BGS members who need a hotel will be responsible for booking and covering the cost of a hotel room. BGS will provide hotel recommendations near the event site, however members can choose to pick any hotel of their choosing.

Q: What is the dress code for this event?
A: The dress code for this event is business casual. Jeans are allowed.

Q: Will recordings be available after the event? 
A: Since this is an in-person event only, there will NOT be recordings of any of the sessions. 

Q: Is this event for BGS members only?
A: Yes, this event is for BGS members and the content will be geared towards current undergraduate and graduate students.

Q: Is this open to members outside of Washington, D.C.? 
A: Yes, this event is open to BGS student members both within and outside of the Washington, D.C. area. 

Q: Are there any discounts or scholarships available?
A: Members who submit a registration by November 19, 2023, will lock in the lowest price. There are no event scholarships or additional discounts available from BGS Global HQ. 

Q: What does the registration fee include?

A: The registration fee includes top-notch and dynamic presentations and learning opportunities over two days. The registration fee does NOT include meals, lodging, travel to and from the area as well as local transportation and parking to and from the event.

Q: Are refunds available?
A: Refunds are available until fourteen days prior to the event (Friday, January 26, 2024).

Q: Will there be a wait list?
A: Yes. There will be a wait list. If spots become available, those on the list will be processed in the order they were received with the latest to come off the wait list and register being Friday, February 2, 2024, at 4 pm CT.

Q: What times are the refreshments/bathroom breaks?

A: Refreshments/bathroom breaks will be throughout and will be noted on the final schedule.

FAQs for Collegiate Chapter Advisors and Administrators

Q: Where can I register a student(s) for the event?
A: We are happy to share chapters can register students. In fact, a chapter can register up to 5 students through the group registration link available to chapters. Please follow the registration link on the
BGS Event Page which will take you to the registration page on Eventbrite. Chapters purchasing group tickets for their students must submit names and information for those attending no later than January 12, 2024.

Q: Are hotel accommodations included in the event fee? 
A: No, hotel accommodations are not included in the event fee. BGS members who need a hotel will be responsible for booking and covering the cost of a hotel room. BGS will provide hotel recommendations near the event site, however members can choose to pick any hotel of their choosing. 

Q: Is there a discount for Highest Honors chapter?

A: No. Based on feedback from our chapters and the Chapter Advisor Council, effective in 2023-2024 BGS is reintroducing the BGS Matching Scholarship Program. This is in place of the previous event scholarship option that was available to Highest Honors chapters. 

Q: Are staff / faculty / chapter advisors invited to attend the event as well?

A: The conference is for BGS student members. If a faculty or staff representative is traveling with their student(s), BGS will make all attempts to set assigned dedicated seating for those individuals to sit at and enjoy our speaker sessions. Breakout sessions, networking, and group work will be for students only.
